Papillon Receives Coveted Award from the UK’s Association of Professional Landscapers (APL)
Angelique Robb is the director of Papillon as well as managing director of Pro Landscaper USA South. She manages her UK-based landscaping company from her new home in Louisiana.
The award was given in the Community Garden category for a sensory garden Papillon designed and built for local cancer charity, CLAN House in Aberdeen, Scotland.
“We are thrilled to be recognized in these prestigious awards,” says Robb, director of Papillon. “The whole team works hard to bring our projects together and the CLAN garden is particularly special. We hope it will help heal the patients and families at CLAN and make a positive difference in their lives.”
Papillon designed and constructed the garden with the needs of CLAN’s patients and visitors at heart. Special features include two fully accessible interconnected seating areas which were designed specifically for relaxation, incorporating tranquil features to help calm the mind. CLAN’s Community Garden was designed in collaboration with Tinto Architecture.
Papillon received a Silver Award for the CLAN garden and took the top accolade in the category, winning the “Best in Category” prize. In addition, the company won a Silver Award in the Gardens category for projects between £20-£35k (under $40,000 US); a Silver Merit Award for Overall Design & Build for a steading garden it built in Ellon; and a Bronze Award in Overall Design & Build for a garden in Hatton of Fintray.
“Community gardens always evoke thoughts of their purpose,” commented the APL judges. “This was no exception being a quiet area for people suffering from cancer. The budgets tend to be slim and the requirement large. Papillon has managed both areas well, delivering a functional yet calming, pleasant space for patients to rest with either their thoughts or family. Some interesting bespoke structures in this well-built project.”
